what is the cancellation policy?
If you wish to make changes or cancel your reservation, you must advise us no later than 24 hours prior to your tour time. If changes or cancellations are not made within 24 hours of the tour departing, cancellation charges equating to the full booking fare will apply.
The best thing about our tours is that we work with wild animals in their natural environment, on their terms. We always do our best to create the best possible wildlife experience, but nature is unpredictable. Sea conditions, water visibility, and wildlife behaviour can change and are outside our control, so these factors aren’t grounds for a refund.
Our tour is an open ocean experience and sea sickness is often experienced. Motion sickness is not grounds for seeking a refund from the tour.
am i guaranteed to see and swim with the dolphins?
The dusky dolphins are wild animals, so we cannot guarantee their presence. However, Kaikōura is famous for its abundance of wildlife and once on the water we do have a very high success rate of locating dusky dolphins. If for some reason we are not successful in locating dolphins, you will receive a partial refund. All our tours are subject to a minimum operational cost.
Dolphin behaviour depends on their “mood” and as with all wild animals their behaviour can never be predicted. There are times when we must respect the dolphins by withdrawing swimmers from the water, but can still view the dolphins from the boat. If we are unable to swim with the dolphins, but are able to successfully view dolphins or any other wildlife, we will refund back to a spectator rate.
